Always in His Providence
Widow Rosa Hostetler has one month to pay her delinquent taxes before the county auctions her farm.
She’s prepared to sell whatever is necessary to pay the lien, but she isn’t willing to request money from the community’s widow fund.
She’s embarrassed and refuses to admit she needs help. Rosa depends on income from selling eggs, but when that income is threatened, only a miracle can help Rosa accept the kindness of a neighbor.

I spent many school hours daydreaming, mostly about horses. Coaxed by my teacher to submit a short story to the Young Authors Writing Contest, I wrote, A Dream to Remember, about a girl who daydreamed about wild horses. That contest opened my eyes to daydream with a purpose. After that, my endless imagination was limited only by how fast I could write, and sometimes I stayed up late at night writing by flashlight to finish a story.

Widow Rosa Hostetler was introduced in Always in My Heart: An Amish Miracle Novella Mary Ellis as Hope Bowman’s best friend. In, Always His Providence: An Amish Miracle Novella by Ruth Reid, we the readers learn more about how Rosa’s husband, Uriah, died and the one of many harsh realities a widow can face upon owning property. Adam Bontrager was best friends with Uriah Hostetler and made a promise with dying Uriah to care for Rosa. Adam is now healed of his scars and is getting back into horse training; he keeps his horses in the Hostetler’s barn. Will Rosa open up about the issues she faces with her property? Or is she too concerned about her chickens? Does God have a miracle for Rosa? Ruth Reid does an excellent job with writing this short story novella. She wrote a page turner for sure.
